Catten college hair department has been established for over 25 years. Having seen in this time thousands of 16+ young ladies and young men blossom into creative stylists, some moving into theatre work, television and cruise liners.

We have established a great rapport with over 120 salons in the Colchester, Tendring, Braintree and Chelmsford areas. All of whom offer excellent training opportunities for their young apprentices.

Our staff have many years' experience in the hair industry and are continually updating their skills to ensure they stay current.  The apprentice will always be supervised by one of our talented team, who will assist them throughout their training at Catten College.  As well as high-quality training, all apprentices have the opportunity to be involved with special, external training days such as styling, colouring, shampoo and treatment courses.

3 years ago we opened our brand new, 19 station salon, which is modern, up to date and has all the latest equipment.

We will assist the apprentice in finding a work placement as near to their area as possible.  Apprentices attend college 1 day per week (as long as this suits their employer) and earn while learning.  Without a doubt: they all have fun and, at the same time, are treated with respect while they enjoy learning all new aspescts of hairdressing.

Apprentices can even show-off their skills in our bi-annual hair show and awards evening, which is a great night out to boot!
